A beautifully delicate blue and white porcelain dish, featuring the traditional European Strawflower or Strohblumenmuster pattern, believed to be of German origin and attributed to the historic Tettau porcelain factory in Bavaria.
The dish features an intricate cobalt-blue floral design, with a central stylised flower surrounded by flowing stems, delicate foliage and geometric flourishes.
The decoration appears to have been applied by hand beneath the glaze, giving the piece subtle variations in colour and brushwork.
Maker’s Marks and Attribution
The underside bears two hand-painted cobalt-blue marks. The upper mark resembles an early Tettau factory mark, featuring a distinctive stylised letter T with a dot.
The second mark has not been conclusively identified and may represent a painter’s or production mark.
Tettau was established in Bavaria in 1794 and is known for its fine porcelain and traditional blue-and-white decoration.
The dish is believed to be an older example, possibly dating to the 19th century, although the precise date and factory attribution remain unconfirmed.
