St Petersburg Green Glass Egg | Engraved Sailing Ship | Magnifying Viewing Feature

Emerald Green Decorative Glass Egg – St Petersburg Maritime Scene with Magnifying Viewing Feature

An unusual and beautifully decorated emerald-green glass egg, measuring approximately 9 cm tall and 7 cm in diameter.

The principal decoration depicts a traditional sailing ship with multiple masts, detailed rigging and sails, alongside historic waterfront buildings and towers. Birds are engraved above the water, with the inscription “St Petersburg” appearing above the scene.

An especially interesting feature is the circular viewing area on the reverse. Surrounded by additional decorative engraving, this feature magnifies the maritime picture when viewed through the glass, bringing the ship and architectural details into sharper focus.

This unusual optical effect adds another dimension to the decoration and makes the egg particularly enjoyable to examine.

The rich emerald-green glass is complemented by intricate engraved borders, including crosshatched decoration and small circular motifs.
