Large Vintage Hand Blown Art Glass Vase Amethyst Pink White Latticino Ruffled Rim 31cm

A striking large hand-blown art glass vase with an elegant tall form and dramatic sculptural ruffled rim.

The vase is formed from clear glass decorated with sweeping opaque white spiral trails running around the body and opening into the broad flared top. The upper section is finished in a beautiful translucent amethyst-pink glass, with a contrasting deep plum-black circular foot.

The elaborate white trailing is reminiscent of traditional latticino and filigrana glass-working techniques, giving the vase wonderful movement from every angle. The large four-lobed rim has been individually hand formed, creating an especially decorative silhouette.

The underside shows evidence of hand manufacture, including a rough pontil area to the centre of the base.

This is an impressive piece at 31 cm tall and makes a substantial display vase rather than a small cabinet piece.

No maker’s signature or label is present, so although the techniques and styling have similarities to Venetian and Murano glass, I am not attributing it to a particular maker or glassworks.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs found on inspection. There may be minor surface marks consistent with age and previous display.

There is some old label/sticker residue to the underside of the base, visible in the photographs.
