Vintage Chinese Cloisonné Blue Dragon Dish Cream Cloud Enamel 10.5cm

Beautiful vintage Chinese cloisonné enamel dish featuring a striking cobalt blue dragon set against an unusually detailed cream ground filled with intricate gold-coloured wire cloud motifs.

The dragon is particularly attractive, with individually worked scales and colourful turquoise, white, burgundy, green and pink enamel details. Stylised waves decorate the lower edge, with a blue scalloped border completing the design.

The amount of cloisonné wirework is impressive for such a small piece, particularly across the densely decorated cloud-pattern background.

The reverse is finished in turquoise blue enamel with delicate floral wire decoration and retains its original red and white “MADE IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA” paper label.

The surviving label confirms this is a post-1949 Chinese piece. The style and construction are consistent with vintage later 20th-century Chinese export cloisonné, although I have not attributed it to a specific decade.
