Vintage Hand Blown Art Glass Vase Blue White Spiral Filigrana Ruffled Rim

Beautiful hand-blown art glass vase featuring fine spiralling trails of cobalt blue and opaque white glass over a clear body.

The vase has a particularly attractive hand-worked ruffled rim, with the spiral decoration continuing through the folds and curves of the glass. The combination of the rounded body, tightly controlled trailing and dramatic sculptural rim gives this small vase considerable presence.

The substantial weight and individually worked form are consistent with quality studio art glass production.

The blue and white spiral technique is sometimes associated with Italian and Venetian glassmaking, but this example is unsigned and unlabelled, so no specific maker or place of manufacture is being attributed.
