Vintage Alum Bay Glass Footed Bowl Vase, Hand-Blown Amber Brown (Isle of Wight)

Vintage Alum Bay Glass hand-blown footed bowl / vase, made on the Isle of Wight, England.

A particularly attractive and substantial piece of British studio art glass, featuring swirling shades of rich amber, caramel, cream and deep brown. The exterior has a wonderful layered, almost landscape-like appearance, while the interior graduates into much lighter cream and honey tones.

The bowl has a wide flared rim and sits on a substantial clear glass pedestal foot. Numerous tiny bubbles and variations within the glass are characteristic of its handmade manufacture.

This example is especially nice to find complete with its original Alum Bay Glass presentation box and Certificate of Authenticity, together with the Alum Bay label to the base.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition overall. There is a visible dark line/inclusion within the interior of the bowl, shown clearly in the photographs. On examination this appears to be within the glass and consistent with a manufacturing irregularity from the hand-blowing process rather than later impact damage. There are also the normal small bubbles and variations associated with handmade glass. Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
