Vintage Russian Lacquer Miniature Box Hand Painted Floral Trinket Box 4cm

A charming vintage miniature lacquer box, beautifully decorated with a colourful hand-painted floral design against a glossy black ground.

Despite measuring only 4cm across, the lid has an impressive amount of decorative detail. The flowers are painted in vivid shades of red, pink, yellow, blue and green, with extensive gold-coloured outlining and an ornamental gilt border framing the composition.

The box opens to reveal a traditional contrasting bright red lacquered interior.

A particularly attractive little decorative piece, and its tiny scale makes the amount of detail in the floral painting especially appealing.

The box is unsigned and unmarked, so I have not attributed it to a particular Russian lacquer workshop or artist.

Approximate dimensions:
4cm × 3cm × 2.5cm

Late 20th century.
