Vintage Limoges France Peint Main Hand-Painted Porcelain Trinket Box

A beautiful genuine Limoges porcelain hinged trinket box, made in France and marked to the base:

“Peint Main
Limoges, France”

“Peint Main” denotes hand-painted decoration, and this particularly pretty example is richly decorated with delicate multicoloured flowers against white porcelain, contrasted with deep burgundy bands and extensive gilt detailing.

The oval domed lid is decorated with bands of pink, blue, red and yellow flowers and foliage, with matching floral decoration continuing around the body.

The box is finished with decorative gilt-tone metal mounts, an ornate hinge and a particularly attractive flower-shaped clasp.

Opening the box reveals a white porcelain interior with a tiny hand-painted red flower to the base.

A very attractive traditional Limoges box with considerably more decoration than many simpler examples.

Condition

Very good vintage condition overall. I can see no obvious chips or cracks in the photographs. There is some minor age-related wear/patination to the metal mounts and very slight wear consistent with previous ownership. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
