Vintage Murano Glass Millefiori Vase, Turquoise Blue with Gold Aventurine

Vintage Murano glass millefiori vase in striking turquoise blue, richly decorated with multicoloured murrine and shimmering gold aventurine, retaining its original Murano Glass foil label.

A particularly decorative piece of Venetian art glass with a wonderfully rounded, almost spherical form, short neck and broad hand-worked flared rim.

The turquoise/aqua glass body is densely scattered with individual eye-shaped millefiori murrine in shades of cobalt blue, white and golden yellow. Fine metallic gold aventurine-style inclusions run throughout the decoration, catching the light beautifully.

The glassmaker has manipulated the murrine particularly effectively around the neck and rim, where the individual canes stretch into elongated feather and teardrop forms. Looking underneath reveals an impressive radial starburst where the decoration has been drawn together during manufacture.

The vase retains its original blue and gold MURANO GLASS foil label to the body.

A very attractive example of later 20th-century Murano decorative glass and an excellent display piece, particularly for a collection of Italian, Venetian or millefiori art glass.

Condition

Very good vintage condition from the photographs, with no obvious chips or cracks noted.

As a handmade vintage glass piece, there are natural irregularities within the glass, including small bubbles, variations in the murrine and surface/metallic inclusions associated with its manufacture. The original foil label shows age and wear, as expected.
