Vintage Hand Blown Amber & Gold Avventurina Art Glass Vase

A striking vintage art glass vase with a beautifully rounded baluster form, slender neck and applied foot.

The translucent amber-brown glass is densely infused with shimmering gold-coloured metallic inclusions, worked in a flowing spiral through the body and neck. In natural light the decoration positively glows, with the metallic flecks appearing to float within the glass.

The technique is closely associated with Italian and Venetian glassmaking and is commonly known as avventurina / aventurine glass.

This example is unsigned and retains no maker’s label, so I am offering it conservatively as vintage Italian / Murano-style art glass rather than attributing it to a particular Murano workshop.

The piece appears hand worked rather than mould produced, with subtle irregularities characteristic of individually made glass.

Condition
Very good vintage condition overall.

I have not identified any significant chips, cracks or repairs from inspection. There may be light surface wear and small manufacturing irregularities consistent with age and hand production. Please study all photographs, including the close-up images, as these form an important part of the condition description.

A particularly attractive little piece for a collection of Italian glass, Venetian-inspired art glass or Mid-Century decorative glass.

The rich amber colour and extraordinary density of gold flecking make this especially effective displayed where natural light can pass through it.
