A beautiful antique Japanese ginbari cloisonné miniature vase, dating to the early 20th century and decorated with a striking floral design over a shimmering textured silver foil ground.
The principal decoration features a large pink and crimson flower surrounded by rich emerald and turquoise foliage, with smaller blue and purple details. The translucent enamels allow the finely patterned foil beneath to sparkle through, giving the vase the distinctive luminous appearance associated with Japanese ginbari work.
The decoration continues around the body, making this an especially attractive little cabinet vase from several angles.
Finished with dark metal rims to the neck and foot. The metal base is unmarked, so the vase is offered as an unmarked Japanese example rather than attributed to a particular workshop.

Condition
This is a genuine antique piece with age-related wear.
There are a number of fine hairlines and areas of cracking within the enamel, principally visible across the pale silver ginbari ground. There is also a more noticeable affected area on the reverse, together with minor marks and wear consistent with age.
The condition has been deliberately photographed from multiple angles and the photographs should be examined carefully as part of the description.
Despite these imperfections, the vase displays beautifully. The colourful floral enamels remain particularly vibrant and the finely textured foil ground retains its wonderful reflective quality.
A charming miniature example of Japanese ginbari cloisonné and an attractive addition to a collection of Japanese enamel work.
