Antique Japanese Ginbari Cloisonné Miniature Vase | Floral Silver Foil Enamel

$118.96

Shipping to United States: $49.01

A beautiful miniature Japanese ginbari cloisonné vase dating to the early 20th century, decorated with an exceptionally colourful floral design over a shimmering silver foil ground.

The vase features a large pink, crimson and soft purple flower accompanied by rich green foliage and vivid blue blossoms. Beneath the translucent enamels is the characteristic finely textured silver foil associated with ginbari work, producing a wonderful reflective effect as the vase catches the light.

The vase is finished with dark metal rims to the neck and foot. The base is unmarked, so it is offered as an unmarked Japanese example rather than attributed to a particular workshop.

Condition

This antique vase displays age-related condition issues. There are numerous fine hairlines and areas of cracking/crazing to the enamel, particularly across the reverse and sides, as clearly shown in the photographs.

Despite this, the floral decoration remains wonderfully vibrant and the textured foil ground retains its striking reflective appearance. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.

A charming little example of Japanese ginbari work and an attractive cabinet piece in its own right.
