Vintage Chinese Cloisonné Ginger Jar with Lid Blue White Floral Enamel 15cm

A beautiful vintage Chinese cloisonné ginger jar with its original fitted lid, richly decorated with an intricate floral design in shades of turquoise, cobalt blue, pale blue and lavender against a crisp white enamel ground.

The decoration features large stylised flowers, leaves and smaller blossoms, all individually outlined with fine metal wire. Particularly attractive is the detailed scrolling border surrounding the neck, which continues the blue and turquoise palette.

The removable domed lid is decorated to match the body, while the interior and underside are finished in traditional turquoise-blue enamel.

A substantial piece weighing approximately 612g, with a wonderfully decorative shape and an especially appealing blue-and-white colour palette.

I believe this is an early 20th-century Chinese piece, possibly dating to the Republic period. As it is unmarked, the dating is offered as an informed attribution rather than a guarantee.
