Vintage Island Studio Glass Guernsey Twin Handled Art Glass Vase Handmade

$111.96

Shipping to United States: $49.01

A striking vintage handmade art glass vase by Island Studio Glass, Guernsey, dating from the late 20th century.

This particularly decorative example has a rounded blown glass body with a wonderfully complex mottled pattern in soft mauve, white and warm brown tones, accented with contrasting dark applied decoration.

The vase is finished with two large sweeping applied glass handles, each terminating in a curled decorative flourish, together with a tall pinched and flared rim. The combination gives the piece a wonderfully sculptural appearance and makes it particularly attractive displayed from different angles.

The vase retains its original black “Hand Made Guernsey – Island Studio Glass” paper label. The base also carries the characteristic impressed Guernsey three-lions mark, providing excellent identification of the maker.

Island Studio Glass was a Guernsey studio glassmaker active during the latter part of the 20th century and is increasingly collected alongside other British and Channel Islands studio glass.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition overall. I have not identified any significant chips or cracks from inspection. There are natural variations, tooling marks and irregularities associated with handmade and applied glass. The original paper label shows age-related wear and losses, as photographed.

A particularly attractive and unusual piece of Guernsey studio glass, equally suited to a collection of British art glass or as a standalone decorative piece.

Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
