Vintage English Faux Tortoiseshell Trinket Box Amber Dressing Table Box 1940s

A beautiful vintage faux tortoiseshell trinket box, made in England and dating to approximately the mid-20th century.

The box has wonderful translucent amber, honey and deep reddish-brown figuring designed to imitate natural tortoiseshell. When held to the light, the material positively glows, revealing swirling variations of colour throughout.

It has an attractive shaped lid with gently curved edges and a hinged construction. A lovely little decorative piece that would work particularly well as a jewellery box, ring box, keepsake box or vintage dressing-table accessory.

The box is marked “MADE IN ENGLAND”.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-related surface marks, scratches and wear. There is a small dark blemish/area of wear visible near the lower edge, which can be particularly noticeable when the box is held against strong light. Please note that this is imitation/faux tortoiseshell, not genuine animal tortoiseshell.
