Vintage English Faux Tortoiseshell Trinket Box Amber Dressing Table Box 1940s

A beautiful vintage English lidded trinket box with a wonderfully rich faux tortoiseshell finish in warm amber, honey and deep brown tones.

The box has an elegant low, sweeping profile with a raised circular lid finished with a small decorative finial. The translucent marbled material produces particularly attractive variations in colour as the light moves across it.

The underside is clearly impressed “MADE IN ENGLAND”.

Dating from around the 1940s–1950s, this is a lovely example of mid-century English dressing-table ware, when moulded materials were used to recreate the luxurious appearance of traditional tortoiseshell and horn.

Perfect for use as a jewellery or trinket box, or simply as a decorative vintage object.
