Vintage Chinese Cloisonné Trinket Box Birds & Flowers Gilt Enamel Blue Interior

A beautiful vintage Chinese cloisonné enamel trinket box, richly decorated with colourful birds amongst flowering branches against an intricately textured gilt ground.

The domed lid features four individually enamelled birds in blue, green, red, white and black, surrounded by soft pink/lilac blossoms and deep green foliage. A decorative cobalt-blue floral and scrolling border encircles the design, creating a particularly colourful and detailed composition.

The gilt metal ground has a fine textured finish which catches the light beautifully and gives the piece an almost jewel-like appearance.

Both the lid and lower section are finished internally in a wonderful rich blue enamel, contrasting beautifully with the gold-toned exterior.

A particularly attractive example of vintage Chinese cloisonné work, with the multiple bird decoration making it rather more unusual than the commonly encountered floral designs.
