A striking signed British studio glass vase by glass artist Andrew Sanders, featuring a wonderfully atmospheric smoky charcoal-grey body with swirling pale grey and white decoration.
The vase has an elegant organic form with a gently rounded body rising to a wide flared trumpet rim. Viewed from above, the swirling glass decoration becomes particularly dramatic, creating an almost cloud-like spiral within the bowl of the vase.
The base has a polished pontil area and is hand signed “Andrew Sanders”, providing a clear attribution to the maker.
Andrew Sanders is a respected British studio glassmaker associated with Sanders & Wallace Glassmakers, the partnership established with fellow glassmaker David Wallace in the late 1970s. Their work encompasses individually made decorative studio glass including vases, bowls and sculptural forms.
A particularly attractive example of late 20th-century British studio glass and a lovely piece for a collection of signed art glass or contemporary decorative glass.
