Ercole Moretti Murano Glass Photo Frame Millefiori Murrine Gold Italy 17cm

A striking authentic Ercole Moretti Murano glass photograph frame, handmade in Murano, Venice, Italy.

Measuring approximately 17 cm × 13 cm, this beautiful frame is richly decorated with an exuberant combination of colourful murrine and millefiori glass set amongst shimmering gold aventurine-style decoration.

The design combines jewel-like ruby red and deep cobalt blue glass with tiny multicoloured striped and floral murrine, creating a wonderfully vibrant mosaic effect. The generous use of gold gives the frame exceptional depth and sparkle as the light moves across it.

Of particular note is the distinctive white “M” murrina incorporated into the glass at the lower right-hand corner. This is the signature mark associated with Ercole Moretti of Murano.

Founded in Murano in 1911, Ercole Moretti is particularly celebrated for its traditional murrine and millefiori glasswork, combining historic Venetian glassmaking techniques with bold decorative designs.

The frame is supported by a clear Perspex easel stand, allowing it to be displayed either on a dressing table, mantelpiece, desk or cabinet.

Condition
The Ercole Moretti glass frame is in excellent pre-owned condition with no chips or cracks noted.

The clear Perspex easel stand has surface scratches and signs of previous use, which can be seen in the photographs. These are confined to the Perspex stand rather than the decorative Murano glass frame.
