Vintage Murano Style Millefiori Glass Pendant Necklace, Italian Art Glass (6.5cm)

A striking vintage Italian-style art glass statement necklace featuring a large oval millefiori pendant filled with colourful floral murrine and shimmering gold/copper-toned metallic foil.

The pendant measures approximately 6.5 cm high × 4 cm wide, giving it considerable presence when worn. Individual flower-patterned millefiori canes in red, white, blue, green and amber tones appear suspended within the glass against a wonderfully rich metallic ground.

Viewed from the side, the decoration has lovely depth, with the murrine and metallic inclusions embedded within the glass rather than simply applied to the surface. The pendant is finished with a coordinating multi-strand ribbon and cord necklace in warm bronze/gold tones.

Attribution & Dating

The construction, use of traditional millefiori/murrine canes and metallic foil decoration are characteristic of Venetian decorative glass jewellery and I believe this piece is most likely Venetian/Murano glass, made in Italy.

However, there is no visible maker’s signature, label or identifiable maker’s cane, so I cannot securely attribute it to a particular Murano workshop. It is therefore being offered as Venetian/Murano-style Italian art glass rather than as the documented work of a specific maker.

The overall style and necklace construction suggest a vintage late-20th-century piece, although an exact date cannot be established.
