Vintage Linea Valentina Murano Glass Vase Blue Aqua Aventurine Handkerchief Vase

A beautiful vintage Italian art glass vase by Linea Valentina, Murano, Venice, retaining its original hanging certificate of guarantee and gold manufacturer’s marking to the glass.

Handmade in Murano, this striking piece has been formed with a wonderfully sculptural freeform or “handkerchief” rim, creating a different silhouette from every angle.

The glass is decorated with sweeping ribbons of rich cobalt blue and aqua/turquoise, interspersed with sparkling copper-gold aventurine-style bands. The striped decoration follows the twists and folds of the vessel, producing a particularly attractive swirling effect through both the body and the elaborate rim.

The underside reveals the spiral construction beautifully and is another lovely feature of the piece.

The original Linea Valentina – Certificato di Garanzia – Murano Venezia label remains attached. The reverse of the label states that the glass was handmade by Murano glassblowers using traditional Murano techniques. There is also a gold Valentina / Murano marking on the glass.

A highly decorative piece of Venetian art glass and a lovely addition to a collection of Murano, Italian or mid-to-late 20th-century studio glass.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. The complex folded rim appears free from significant chips or cracks in the photographs. As with handmade Murano glass, minor irregularities and variations are part of the manufacturing process rather than faults.

The original paper certificate label shows age-related wear and discolouration, which I have deliberately left untouched.
