A charming vintage miniature miner’s safety lamp by The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co. Ltd. of Eccles, England.
Modelled on the traditional safety lamps associated with Britain’s coal-mining industry, this smaller display-size lamp is beautifully constructed in warm copper and brass with a clear glass chamber and hanging hook.
The front carries the original oval maker’s plaque for The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co. Ltd., Eccles, giving the piece a wonderful connection to British mining and industrial heritage.
The underside retains its original warning label stating that only paraffin should be used, together with instructions for the wick setting.
The polished copper body contrasts beautifully with the brass fittings and gives the lamp plenty of character. It would make an unusual display piece for a study, library, mantelpiece or collection of mining and industrial memorabilia.
