A beautiful antique Chinese cloisonné enamel dish, dating approximately to the late Qing to early Republic period, circa 1890–1920.

Measuring approximately 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) in diameter, the dish has a particularly attractive black enamel ground decorated with colourful flowers, foliage and bamboo.

The background is filled with an intricate repeating geometric pattern formed from fine copper wire, giving the piece considerably more detail than many small cloisonné dishes of this type.

The reverse is finished in traditional turquoise-blue enamel with simple floral cloisonné decoration and an exposed copper rim.

A lovely small example of antique Chinese enamel work, ideal for a cloisonné collection or as a decorative cabinet piece.

Condition:
Antique condition with age-related wear throughout. There is surface wear, pitting and small enamel imperfections. The reverse has several areas of enamel loss/chipping, including losses to the recessed centre and around the outer edge. These have been photographed clearly and form part of the piece’s considerable age and character. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
