Vintage Hand Carved Wooden Jewellery Box Floral Vine Folk Art Trinket Box

Vintage hand-carved wooden jewellery or trinket box featuring an attractive scrolling floral and foliage design.

A charming vintage wooden box with detailed relief carving covering the lid and further carved vine and leaf decoration around the sides.

The upper surface has been particularly nicely worked, with individually carved leaves and flowing stems set against a finely textured background, giving the design considerable depth and character.

The box is traditionally constructed from multiple pieces of wood and opens on two inset metal hinges. The interior has a simple natural wood finish with a raised framed compartment.

Likely dating from around the mid-20th century and probably of South Asian manufacture, possibly Indian. No maker’s marks are visible, so the precise origin and wood species cannot be confirmed.

Condition:
Good vintage condition overall with age-related wear, colour variation and small marks. There are some small splits/separations to the wood and joints, visible particularly around the corners and base, together with minor surface wear consistent with age and use.
