Vintage Russian Lacquer Miniature Box Hand Painted Winter Well Folk Art 6cm

A charming vintage Russian lacquer miniature box, beautifully hand painted with a colourful traditional winter scene.

The circular lid depicts a woman drawing water from a well in a snowy Russian landscape, surrounded by trees and traditional buildings. Despite the compact size, the miniature contains an impressive amount of fine detail, with individually painted snow, delicate outlines and touches of gold adding warmth and depth to the scene.

The black lacquer exterior is complemented by an attractive hand-decorated gold ornamental border, while the interior is finished in the traditional contrasting red.

The miniature appears to be genuinely hand painted rather than a printed transfer, with individual brushwork and natural variations visible when viewed closely.

No artist’s signature or workshop inscription has been identified, so I have deliberately not attributed the box to a particular Russian lacquer school.

Dimensions:
Approximately 6 cm diameter × 3 cm high.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with light surface wear and minor marks consistent with age and previous handling. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.

A particularly attractive small Russian lacquer miniature, ideal for a collection of Russian folk art, lacquerware or decorative boxes.
