Antica Murrina Venezia Statement Blue Murano Glass Heart Necklace Italian Art Glass

A striking and substantial Antica Murrina Venezia Italian art glass statement necklace, originally purchased from Smythson of Bond Street, London, and offered with its blue Smythson presentation box and Antica Murrina information booklet.

This is a particularly impressive Antica Murrina piece, centred around a large sculptural heart pendant formed from beautifully layered blue glass.

The heart displays wonderful swirling shades of deep cobalt, sapphire and lighter blue, with shimmering metallic detail running through the glass. The colours have tremendous depth and change beautifully as the pendant catches the light.

Rather than simply being a glass pendant added to a chain, this is a complete Antica Murrina necklace design. The long silver-tone chain incorporates the distinctive circular ANTICA MURRINA branded element, giving the necklace an elegant and unmistakably designer appearance.

Its substantial proportions and dramatic glasswork make this much more of a statement necklace than the smaller Antica Murrina pendants more commonly encountered.

Particularly appealing is its provenance. The necklace was originally purchased from Smythson on Bond Street, London, and comes with the blue Smythson presentation box in which it was purchased. The original Antica Murrina Venezia information booklet is also present.

A beautiful piece of Italian designer glass jewellery with the added interest of its London luxury-retail provenance.

I have not identified a 925 sterling silver hallmark on the necklace, so the metal components are conservatively described as silver-tone rather than sterling silver.
