Hand-Blown Venetian Style Opaline & Amber Glass Vase with Applied Scroll Handles

A wonderfully ornate vintage hand-worked art glass vase, combining a warm ivory/cream opaline body with rich amber-gold applied glass decoration.

The vase has a beautifully spiralled ribbed body leading to a flared, scalloped rim edged in amber glass. Particularly striking are the two tall applied handles, each individually worked with elaborate curled and sculptural glass attachments.

The base is equally decorative, formed with a series of individually tooled amber glass petals or leaves creating an attractive flower-like foot.

The combination of opaline glass, spiral ribbing and elaborate hot-applied decoration gives the piece a distinctly Venetian / Murano-style character. It is unmarked, however, and without an original label or documented provenance I am not attributing it to a particular Murano glasshouse.

A highly decorative and unusual piece of vintage art glass, displaying beautifully from every angle and particularly lovely when illuminated, when the amber glass takes on a rich golden glow.

Condition:
The vase is in good vintage condition overall. There is a small chip to the edge of one of the applied glass feet/petals at the base, which has been photographed and should be noted. This does not detract significantly from the overall appearance when displayed.

There are also minor signs of age and use, together with small bubbles and irregularities associated with the handmade nature of the glass. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
