Vintage Blue Ribbed Art Glass Bottle Vase

A wonderfully striking vintage art glass bottle vase in a rich combination of turquoise and deep cobalt blue.

The piece has a beautifully rounded, almost spherical body with pronounced vertical ribbing sweeping upwards into the shoulders and long cylindrical neck. The varying thickness of the glass creates wonderful changes in colour, from bright turquoise blue through to intense cobalt along the deeper ribs.

The neck is finished with a substantial rounded and slightly flared rim, giving the vase a particularly attractive sculptural silhouette.

The body appears to have been mould-blown or mould-formed, with a visible manufacturing seam running vertically on one side. Small bubbles, textured areas and other irregularities can also be seen within the glass and are characteristic of its manufacture.

The vase is unsigned and the maker is currently unknown. I have therefore deliberately not attributed it to a particular glassworks or country of manufacture.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall.

There are some light surface marks and signs of previous use consistent with age. The glass contains small bubbles, variations and manufacturing irregularities, and there is a visible mould/manufacturing seam on one side. These have been photographed for completeness.
