Original Signed Charcoal Portrait Drawing
A striking original charcoal and mixed-media portrait depicting an elderly bearded gentleman with an expressive gaze. The work is titled “Gentleman of the Road: and one of the last of them.” and is signed and dated ’99 by an artist whose signature appears to read Bosker (attribution uncertain).
This beautifully executed monochrome portrait captures remarkable character and emotion, with strong tonal contrasts and finely rendered facial features. The title suggests the sitter represents one of the traditional travelling characters or “gentlemen of the road,” adding an evocative narrative to the piece.
Although extensive research has been undertaken, I have been unable to positively identify the artist, and the work is therefore being offered as an original signed artwork by an unidentified artist. No identical example or documented record of this specific portrait has been located.
The artwork is presented in its existing frame and mount, making it ready to display.
