A beautiful antique Japanese cloisonné enamel display dish dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1890 to 1910.

The dish features a flowering blossom tree emerging from a jardinière against an intricate pale celadon cloud-pattern ground, accented with a delicate butterfly and finished with a turquoise blue border. The reverse is fully enamelled in rich turquoise with hand-laid floral wirework, reflecting the quality of its manufacture.

The fine wirework, harmonious colour palette and fully decorated reverse make this an attractive example of late 19th century Japanese cloisonné produced for the export market during the Meiji era.
