Vintage Russian Fedoskino Lacquer Box: Hand-Painted Winter Monastery Scene, Mother-of-Pearl Inlay

Beautiful hand-painted Russian Fedoskino lacquer box featuring a stunning winter monastery landscape with shimmering mother-of-pearl inlay beneath the painted sky.

This elegant papier-mâché lacquer box is decorated with a continuous panoramic snowy village and monastery scene extending around the lid and sides. The painting displays excellent detail, with snow-covered trees, Orthodox church domes and a warm sunset illuminated by iridescent mother-of-pearl beneath the lacquer.

The box retains its traditional glossy black exterior and vibrant red lacquer interior, characteristic of quality Fedoskino workmanship. It is signed in Cyrillic by the artist and also bears the inscription “Федоскино” (Fedoskino), identifying the famous Russian village renowned for producing hand-painted lacquer miniatures.

A beautiful decorative object and an excellent addition to any collection of Russian lacquer art.
