Signed G. A. Sydenham Reverse Glass Paintings: Mr. Pickwick & Quilp Pair

Original Signed G. A. Sydenham Reverse Glass Paintings – Charles Dickens Literary Characters – Matching Pair

An attractive and increasingly hard-to-find matching pair of original hand-painted reverse glass paintings by the recognised artist G. A. Sydenham, depicting two memorable Charles Dickens characters:

• Mr Pickwick from The Pickwick Papers
• Daniel Quilp from The Old Curiosity Shop

Each painting is individually signed by the artist and executed in reverse on glass, with beautifully visible brushwork, layered paint and hand-painted literary quotations beneath each figure. The paintings are presented in matching vintage black frames and display wonderfully together, making them ideal for a study, library, reading room or Dickens-inspired interior.

These works will appeal to collectors of Dickensiana, reverse glass paintings, literary art and signed British artwork.

Measurements (each)

• Height: Approx. 23.5 cm
• Width: Approx. 18.5 cm
• Depth: Approx. 1 cm

Condition

Good vintage condition overall with age-related wear consistent with age and display.

Both paintings retain strong colour and clear signatures. The frames show light surface wear and minor marks. The handwritten quotation beneath the Mr Pickwick painting shows some age-related fading. There is also a small chip to the glass on the Mr Pickwick painting (please see the close-up photograph), together with minor surface marks and age-related wear. The Quilp painting displays very well with only light age-related wear.

Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.

Sold together as a matching pair.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire two original signed reverse glass paintings celebrating the timeless characters of Charles Dickens.
