A striking vintage satin art glass vase featuring an elegant baluster form with an acid-frosted finish, delicate pale blue trailing encircling the body, and beautifully sculptural cobalt blue applied handles.
The elaborate organic handles give the vase a distinctive Art Nouveau character, while the clean proportions and restrained decoration also hint at early Art Deco influences. The combination of satin glass, applied ornamentation and hand-finished construction suggests European manufacture, most likely Bohemian or Czech, dating to approximately the early to mid-20th century.
Although the vase is unsigned, its quality of workmanship is immediately apparent. The substantial weight, polished pontil base, finely applied glass decoration and balanced proportions all point towards skilled studio or factory production rather than later decorative glass.
This is a superb display piece that works equally well in traditional and contemporary interiors, whether displayed alone or with a simple floral arrangement.
