Antique Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Dragon Dish

A beautifully detailed antique Chinese cloisonné enamel dish featuring a striking five-clawed yellow dragon surrounded by swirling cloud motifs against a deep black ground.

The dish displays traditional hand-laid copper wirework throughout, including the intricate cloud pattern covering the entire surface. The dragon is rendered in vibrant yellow, turquoise, green, red and purple enamels and is depicted pursuing the flaming pearl, a classic symbol of wisdom, power and prosperity in Chinese art.

The underside features an attractive turquoise-blue enamel foot surrounded by exposed copper, a characteristic often seen on older Chinese cloisonné pieces.

Likely dating from the Republic Period (circa 1920-1950), although buyers should satisfy themselves regarding age and attribution.

A wonderful display piece for collectors of Asian antiques, Chinese decorative arts, cloisonné enamelwork, dragon symbolism and traditional Oriental craftsmanship.
